Fort Pulaski’s intriguing architecture and interior structure offer stunning shapes as light makes its way across sculpted brick facades.

Named in honor of Casimir Pulaski, a Polish soldier and military commander who fought during the American Revolution, Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on Cockspur Island between Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia.

During the American Civil War, the Union Army successfully tested rifled cannon in combat in 1862 against the Fort, the success of which rendered brick fortifications obsolete. The fort was also used as a prisoner-of-war camp.
