Meek's Myrtle Grove Shanty

from $65.00

The Meeks Plantation is frequently used for filming Hollywood documentaries and movies such as Glory, and the Underground Railroad. These very realistic movie props serve as an almost too life-like reminder of a time long gone, settled in history, yet indicative of the South.

Located near the Great Ogeechee River, just south of Savannah is Richmond Hill, Georgia. It is often associated with one its most famous residents — Henry Ford. In 1925, Ford purchased land on Bryan Neck, eventually owning about 85,000 acres on both sides of the Ogeechee. In particular, Ford was interested in the social and agricultural improvement of the area, then one of the most impoverished places in coastal Georgia.
